Job Title: WordPress Developer

Reporting to: Technical Lead / Web Development Manager

Experience : 5+ Years Experience

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled WordPress Developer with at least 5 years of hands-on coding experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality WordPress websites, plugins, and themes. You should have strong expertise in PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and a thorough understanding of the WordPress core architecture.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop custom WordPress themes and plugins from scratch based on project requirements.
• Build, enhance, and maintain WordPress websites ensuring best practices in UI/UX, SEO, and performance.
• Integrate third-party APIs (REST, SOAP, GraphQL) with WordPress sites and troubleshoot integration issues.
• Optimize websites for speed, scalability, and responsiveness across devices and browsers.
• Identify and resolve bugs, performance
• Write clean, efficient, well-documented code and participate in code reviews and peer programming.
• Use Git for source control and participate in collaborative development workflows.
• Liaise with project managers, designers, and clients to gather requirements and provide technical solutions.
• Implement security best practices to safeguard WordPress websites from vulnerabilities and attacks.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines and automate deployment processes (preferred).
• Guide and mentor junior developers in coding standards, best practices, and problem-solving.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of WordPress development with proven coding experience.
• Languages: Advanced PHP and MySQL, Strong JavaScript (ES6+), jQuery, HTML5, CSS3, SASS/LESS
• Experience with at least one JS framework (React, Vue, Angular – desirable)
• Deep understanding of WordPress core, actions/filters, template hierarchy
• Custom theme and plugin development (not just modifying existing ones)
• Experience with WooCommerce, ACF, and other popular plugins
• REST API, AJAX, and external service integrations
• Tools: Git, Composer, WP-CLI, NPM/Yarn, Gulp/Grunt
• Hosting & Deployment: Experience with cPanel, Plesk, or cloud platforms (AWS, DigitalOcean, etc.)
• Security & Performance: Knowledge of WordPress security, caching (Varnish, Redis), CDN, and performance tuning
• Testing: Familiarity with unit testing, browser testing, and debugging tools
• Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, strong communication, ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred)
• Relevant certifications in web development, PHP, or WordPress (optional but advantageous)

Nice to Have

• Experience with Headless WordPress and JAMstack
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
• Contribution to WordPress open-source projects or plugins
• Familiarity with Figma/Adobe XD for implementing designs
